A series of unfortunate events...

We tried to go on vacation yesterday.... It didn't work. We hope to try again today. We mowed the lawn and put away the Boy Scout tent. We took the girls to Piano lessons, and I took the big van into Sam's Club to get a tire patched. Unfortunately the nail in the tire was too close to the sidewall so we had to buy a new tire. 2 hours later I was back on the road again looking for trouble. We managed to feed people and get everything ready to go to the airport. We got all the little tags written out at the airport to put on every one's bags. (I was feeling pretty good at this point!) Then we went to security - we remembered to pick up Spencer's lap top after screening :). We walked up and down and over and around and found our gate! We sat and then they announced that the flight was delayed... The flight was slow leaving it's previous destination. It arrived 20 minutes after we were suppose to have left, they had a very quick turn around. We walked out the ramp, and down onto the tarmac and then climbed the stairs to the little plane (dash 8) After loading we had to wait for a truck to push us out of the way. It did, but it also gave us a big jolt and broke the tow bar on the plane. SO we waited to see if they could fix it. It took longer than our flight was suppose to be. We were very warm and concerned about our connecting flights. Finally they turned off the engines and had us get off the plane. We were escorted back into the terminal where it was much cooler. Then we got to wait in line for help. An hour and a half later, they had cancelled the flight and we were booked on a flight for the next day at noon with a different airline. (Non stop) This sounds great till you find out that only half of us actually have seats. They are not together. So after 6+ hours AT the airport we got to come home and go to bed last night. As my man was trying to exit the parking lot with his prepaid parking ticket, the machine wouldn't accept it. He had to back up and go to another gate and it still took a while for the attendant to help him exit. We were all pretty thirsty at this point. SO half way home the man stops at McDonald's for some food (He didn't get a chance to eat earlier.) We ask for 8 cups of water to go with his combo order. we are told that we could only possibly have a max of 2. I explained we have 9 thirsty people in the car and could we just buy 8 cups of water. We are told that we would have to talk to the manager. So we talk to the manager and go through the whole thing again. Finally I tell her to just charge me $.25 a glass or something but we wanted 8 cups of water. she comes back and says FINE $1.50! We finally got the drinks and drove home.....Today we shall see what fun happens. I guess it could be worse, I could have had an earthquake.. Wait that was my sister and mother and brother in California yesterday. Luckily no one was really hurt just stuff dumped. This is an interesting life.

That trumps even Jim's awful trip to MO...at least he was by himself. Well, at that kind of fiasco...it can only get better??Yes, tell us where you are
going...only by now you are hopefully on your way?

That is horrible!! I think Airports are terrible places to be stuck with children. And for 6 HOURS??? I can't believe the people at McD's. That is just silly. Jan is correct about it being a fiasco. I do hope you get on your vacation and have a fantastic time!
