It is STILL there!

We went to check for ourselves and the original liberty bell is still there in Philadelphia, PA. The Park Rangers have a really great job explaining things to visitors young and old! Did you know this bell was in service for 90 years, before being removed cause it didn't sound good anymore. The cracks affected the ring tone - shocking I know. They now have a nifty new visitors center, and a covered waiting area to see the bell. No more standing in the hot sun to wait. And the bell is not encased in plastic anymore either. Cool improvements!

Independence Hall was also still there. It requires timed tickets to go and visit it now. We were able to go in at 1:20pm. They gave a great interpretation of the political feeling at the time. We learned why the tablecloths and draperies were green (Not part of the regular tour questions) Did you know that green was the least expensive dye? So if they wanted color, but didn't want to waste much money on it, you get green. Voi-la!

We walked around a lot, and even managed to park our large van two different places. (We do not have low clearance.) We saw the U.S.Mint, The Constitution Center, the Independence Visitor Center, The Liberty Bell, The Supreme Court building & Old City Hall. The Carpenter's Hall, The Franklin Court (Where his house used to be), The Independence Hall, The Christ Church Cemetery, Ben Franklin in a toga, And Betsy Ross' House. All in all I think we were successful. I admit we are glad to be out of the car. Cool adventure.
